No, you're not dreaming. The Superman Homepage "Ask Matt" Fan Forum has been updated!
After a 5 month hiatus, Matt Idelson (DC Comics Editor of the Superman comic books) returns to the Superman Homepage to answer your questions about the Superman comic books.
Matt: Greetings, everyone. I've at last emerged from the ninth circle of Hell (contrary to Steve's wishes), and with the "New Krypton" crossover now up-and-running, I can resume the honor of answering any questions you may have about the Superman titles on a monthly basis. No, really.
For those that want a really good all round fighting game - you have one now! Right off the bat I'll tell you this is one of the best Mortal Kombat games and probably the best comic character transition to date. Why? Because it goes back to its beginning and builds upon what made Mortal Kombat I & II so ground breaking and ultimately more fun than the yawnsome Capcom offerings (how many versions of Streetfighter II are there now?).
Story Mode is split into one story from two angles - both climaxing with a powerful villain. The DC Universe story begins with the final defeat of Darkseid. Joining forces with Lex Luthor, Darkseid was tricked into a showdown with Kal, beaten to a pulp in the process... but as he is about escape into a Boom Tube, Superman makes a fatal error and soon heroes and villains across the globe begin to vanish or swap dimensional planes with a place called Outworld. To make matters worse those remaining are infected with the Rage virus... something that quickens the merger of Earth and Outworld...
Over in Outworld at the exact same time, Shinnok's son, Shao Kahn, is double crossed by the sorcerer Quan Chi and left to be slain by Raiden. Snatching a chance to escape Kahn tries to use Quan Chi's portal to retreat but Raiden attempts to stop him with devastating results.
To complete story mode for both sides you'll need to complete a whopping 56 battles with 2-3 rounds each. (You'll unlock two new characters in the process) due to the story line you'll be forced to have to master each of the characters in a specific sequence until their story arc is completed. It's worth noting that finishing moves aren't involved during story mode.
November 19, 2008: Bryan Singer Talks Superman... Sort Of
MTV.com interviewed Bryan Singer and asked him whether or not he'd be returning to direct the next Superman movie. He didn't exactly give a straight forward answer...
MTV: There's a lot of confusion about whether you will be directing another Superman film. Can you set the record straight?
Singer: At the moment I can't really talk about that. I wish I could. From my perspective I'm going to take a brief pause. This movie [Valkyrie] has taken a long time so I'm going to take a pause. A movie like that takes some time to do right. That's all I can say about that.
So, we're no clearer on this than we were before...
November 19, 2008: Christopher Reeve's Son Discusses Next Superman Movie
MTV.com spoke with Matthew Reeve, son of the late Christopher Reeve, at a recent fundraising event in New York called "A Magical Evening" to benefit the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation.
Here's an excerpt from the article where Matthew talks about his thoughts on "Superman Returns" and future Superman movies...
"As far as we're concerned, there's only ever going to be one Superman," Matthew laughed.
So instead of worrying whether they should keep Routh or try to cast yet another actor who looks like Christopher Reeve in the upcoming reboot, Matthew suggested that Warner Bros. focus more on the story this next time around.
"There were lots of plot lines established, and it was very faithful to the original Donner films and sequels," he told us, "and I'd be curious to know how some of those plot lines in the last one will be continued or abandoned. If you look at 'The Dark Knight,' that was a phenomenal movie, and hopefully they can do something as good with the next version of this one. It could be."
Matthew's advice, then, was this: "There are lots of fans of the comics and the films my dad did and the new one, and you can never please everyone. So just be original and creative and exciting, and I'm sure it will be successful."
November 19, 2008: New Superman Video Game Stalls?
Video game developer Factor 5 is looking for a new publisher for their (rumored) Superman game since the collapse of publisher Brash.
MTV's MultiPlayerBlog spoke with Factor 5 president Julian Eggebrecht to get the inside information on what will happen with the game now...
"One of our large-scale multi-platform projects was started with Brash because it is a dream property for us, hasn't been given its dues in gaming since the Atari 2600, and has a huge universe to draw from. It also is a long-term project because we were not willing to compromise quality at all from the start and make this into what we as fans, and hopefully every fan of the property - movies old or new, comic-book, or TV - wants to play. If we have delivered the ultimate fantasy fulfillment in a galaxy far, far away, this one certainly is intended to do the same for a completely different universe.
"With that said, things are obviously in flux and we hope that the game proves to be as indestructible as our hero…"
Sounds interesting. We'll keep an eye on this story if and when it develops.
November 19, 2008: More Videos Added to SupermanBobHoliday.com
Across the years and the miles, fans of the original Broadway production of "It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman" have shared their favorite musical memories of the show and of its star, Bob Holiday, with lasting enjoyment.
Joining Bob onstage in 1966 to perform and sing the show's rich collection of Charles Strouse and Lee Adams tunes were such talents as the beautiful Patricia Marand, the debonair Jack Cassidy, and the comical Michael O'Sullivan, all of whom were nominated for Tony Awards that year for their roles in the show.
Recently, several fans shared their favorite "It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman" musical memories with Bob Holiday. Web Hostess Toni Collins combined those memories with stills from the show and music from the original cast CD, so that you, too, can enjoy them.
Two videos of Musical Memories from "It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman" can now be viewed in the "Broadway Memories" section of SupermanBobHoliday.com. These videos join "The Story of Superman" (a fictional newsreel starring Bob Holiday that was shown as part of the original musical) and Bob's rare TV appearance as Superman in a 1966 episode of the classic game show "I've Got a Secret".
More Musical Memories will be added at a later date, check the website regularly for more to come!

November 18, 2008: Has James Robinson Quit Superman?
ComicBookResources.com claims to have heard that James Robinson has quit "Superman" and DC Comics all together.
I understand that James Robinson and Dan [DiDio] had a stand up argument that led to Robinson quitting the Superman books and the DCU in general.
UPDATE: Superman comic book editor Matt Idelson contacted the Superman Homepage today to debunk this story. It's not true. James Robinson has NOT quit the Superman comic books.
